A trace clip is a practical option for horses in light to moderate work during the cooler months. Hair is removed from the areas where the horse tends to sweat most, while much of the winter coat is left in place across the back, hindquarters, and legs for additional warmth and protection.
Removing excess hair from high-sweat areas can help your horse cool down and dry more comfortably after exercise, without taking away the protection of the entire winter coat. It can be especially useful for horses that remain in regular work through fall and winter but do not need a full-body clip.
Each trace clip is adjusted to the individual horse, taking into consideration their workload, coat, living environment, and the amount of coverage the owner would like to maintain.

Full Body Clip
A full body clip removes the majority of the horse's coat for a clean, polished finish and easier management during regular or heavier work. It is a good option for horses that develop particularly thick winter coats, remain in consistent training, or have difficulty cooling and drying after exercise.
Each horse is clipped with attention to creating a smooth, even finish and clean lines. The exact clip can be tailored to the horse and owner's preferences, including how areas such as the head and legs are handled.
Because every horse and coat is different, full-body clipping is priced individually based on the horse's size, coat length and thickness, requested clip, and the time or handling required to complete the service.

Pre-Clip Bath
A clean coat makes a significant difference when it comes to achieving a smooth, even clip. Dirt, sweat, oil, and buildup in the coat can make clipping more difficult, affect the finished appearance, and put additional wear on clipper blades.
For owners who aren't able to bathe their horse beforehand, a pre-clip bath can be added to the appointment for $30. The horse will be thoroughly cleaned in preparation for clipping and must be completely dry before clipping can begin.
Because adequate drying time is required, pre-clip baths must be scheduled in advance and may affect the total amount of time needed for the appointment.
